The Birmingham-to-Chicago connection sees production from DI$ and ZALE.

If you’re not familiar, a bit of context — based in Barcelona and Amsterdam, The Plug has come a long way from just being a cannabis-based entity, and have since expanded fully into the music world. Connecting with music engineer Sean D, owner Jack The Plug has made it his mission to bridge the proverbial gap between North America and Europe, creating some of the dopest high-profile collaborations as a result.

Back in 2019, this all culminated into The Plug’s debut compilation Plug Talk, which saw 13 tracks packed with verses from the likes of D-Block Europe, Offset, Chip, Roddy Ricch, Nafe Smallz, YoungBoy Never Broke Again, Young Dolph, Rich The Kid, Gunna, WSTRN, Fredo, M Huncho, and Polo G. More recently, we’ve heard additional across-the-pond connections like Fivio Foreign and M24’s “Fashion,” JAY1 and Blueface’s “Curvy,” and Lil Pump and Aitch’s “Goyard Boatman” — all of which are presumed to be taken from the forthcoming Plug Talk 2. This week, The Plug adds to that with the Di$ and ZALE-produced “Father Figure,” which sees M1llionz linking with G Herbo for one of the hardest transatlantic drops to date:

“I used to sit back in my cell and say ‘No, this can’t be it,’ fresh home, back to the trap, my girl moanin’ and arguin’, tellin’ me, don’t make the same mistakes that your father did, I’ma take care of my fam, I ain’t nothin’ like my father, bitch, where I’m from, it’s how it goes, none of my dogs’ legit, I’m still tryna buy these poles, for the low, man, I’m bargainin’, I ain’t a pharmacist, I mix freebase with bicarbonate, and now I’m gardenin’, make DHL bring all of my parcels in…”
