It’s been a year and some change since Yxng Bane blessed his fans with the mixtape Quarantime: The Lost Files, which saw 14 tracks with additional assistance from G Frsh, Kojo Funds, Headie One, K-Trap, and more. Since then, he’s released loose singles like “Cut Me Off” with D-Block Europe and “Dancing On Ice” with Nafe Smallz and M Huncho — the East London star could also be seen on KSI’s “Really Love” and Wes Nelson’s “Nice To Meet Ya.”

Last week, Bane made a big return with “Birthday,” a collaboration with Stefflon Don that sees production from Rymez. As the title suggests, “Birthday” shows the artists harmonizing about going all out for their significant others’ special day:

“Tell me if you got time, I need you for hours, babe, tell me that it’s mine, I’ll never ever slice my cake, mmhmm, you get Off-White, Jordan, Birkin, we go the whole way, ready, get you what you want, I told the DJ play your favorite song, puttin’ you in Gucci then I put you in your thong, but no joke, my baby told me, ‘Can I buy you Christmas?’”

Directed by Kevin Hudson, the accompanying clip for “Birthday” is a massive celebration, complete with fly gifts, balloons, champagne, and other facets of an individual’s life anniversary. One location sees a couple of women having a blast, while Bane and Stefflon Don showcase some dope chemistry in another.

Stefflon Don has seemingly stepped back from music since enjoying a banner year in 2019 — a year from her inclusion into XXL’s Freshman class and Quality Control music debut Secure. That time period also saw her collaborating with the likes of Wiley, Kash Doll, Lil Baby, and more — more recently, a couple of singles, “Move” and “Can’t Let You Go,” give hope to a new body of work somewhere in the not-so-distant future.
