Currently, CJ can be considered one of the current frontrunners of New York hip hop — largely thanks to the viral hit “Whoopty” and subsequent remixes. For his latest, he teams up with legendary DJ Funkmaster Flex for the Sean Allen and Swanqo-produced offering “You Know” — the song was first teased back in January before viewers received a trailer of sorts in the visual for the Jadakiss-assisted “Damn Shame.”

As with previous drops, CJ has no problem rapping about his street background and wild lifestyle:

“Bitch, I’m hot like fever, I can’t stress no bitch, don’t need her, I’m in the Wraith with my feet up, nigga, I been on my stripes like Adida’, got a new bitch, she a diva, she give good head, I won’t leave her, bitch, I’m off the meter, all this ice on me, I’m stuck in the freezer, gang/”

Shot by Juganot, the accompanying clip for “You Know” keeps with previous Funk Flex videos, matching the artist with high-end whips somewhere in New York City. In this case, bright red Hellcats and Ferraris match CJ’s expensive threads.

In addition to the aforementioned Jadakiss collaboration, “You Know” follows “Lurkin” with King Von, “Gametime” with Fivio Foreign, and “Re-Route” with Rowdy Rebel. Currently, Funk Flex is said to be putting the finishing touches on a new album — his first since 2006’s Car Show Tour.

Following “Whoopty,” CJ liberated his debut EP Loyalty Over Royalty back in February, an eight-track body of work with a single assist from French Montana. Earlier this month, he upgraded Loyalty Over Royalty with a deluxe addition, adding on new assist from Montana, Rebel, Anuel AA, Ozuna, and DreamDoll. Hopefully, the Staten Island rising star’s official full-length isn’t too far away.
