Back in July, G Herbo released his sixth studio LP 25, which came with 19 hard-hitting tracks and additional features from Polo G, Lil Tjay, 21 Savage, The Kid LAROI, Gunna, Yosohn, and Rowdy Rebel. Today (Sept. 21), the Chicago emcee brings us a new visual from 25 for the Oz On The Track and Chase Davis-produced “Stand The Rain (Mad Max),” which sees him rapping about past struggles and current successes:

“I need paper like I’m Hov, I need thirty before thirty, need mercy on my soul, made the 30 Under 30, I made a teardrop in my Rolls, came from shit, we came from hits, I made it back, dirt on my clothes, now I’m here, 2018, shit was different, what a year, 2019, it was tough, but I’m like, ‘Fuck it, it’s in the rear,’ 2020, COVID hit and I’m just gettin’ shit in gears, I ain’t even reach all my goals and I’m still shittin’ on my peers...”

The accompanying clip for “Stand The Rain (Mad Max)” gives off noir style effects, creating a vibe that’s perfect for the song’s powerful subject matter. Throughout, viewers can see Herbo reading an issue of “Forbez” with him on the cover, showing off his one of a kind Trackhawk, reflecting over lost loved ones in a church, riding through the streets in a Rolls Royce Cullinan, and more. In one scene, he performs the track while in the rain, while an unknown figure fires off an automatic rifle behind him.

In a recent episode of REVOLT’s “Big Facts,” Herbo spoke on the adversity he’s endured during his musical journey:

“I just feel like I stay solid through everything ‘cause when I dropped my first project, Welcome to Fazoland, I was 17-year-old or some shit like that. I was really in the streets more... more than anything ... There’s a lot of shit behind the industry... adversity and a lot of shit you got to overcome, especially with you being independent.”
