Baby Keem deals with “issues” in new visual

The clip is taken from Keem’s new album ‘The Melodic Blue.’

Earlier today (Sept. 10), Baby Keem blessed the masses with his official debut LP The Melodic Blue, a 16-track body of work with additional features from Travis Scott, Don Toliver, and Kendrick Lamar — the last of whom delivered show-stopping bars for “range brothers” and “family ties.” In addition to the new album release, the Las Vegas talent unveiled a new visual for the standout cut “issues,” a song that was first premiered during a performance on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.” “issues” contains additional production from Jahaan Sweet and sees Keem delivering emotionally charged fare about family, struggles, inner demons, and more:

“Attention, this is my life sentence, huh, huh, you’re committed, huh, defensive ‘bout your vision, huh, huh, don’t you get offended, huh, when the darkness hits, I’ll show you all that I’m not kiddin’, huh, grow a tree, plant the seed, let it breathe, my sister RiRi only see me on the screen, I know she needs me, I can’t help but feel T…”

The Jake Schreier-directed clip for “issues” seems pretty open to interpretation upon viewing. It begins with Keem riding his bike in the desert, after which a helicopter can be seen hovering around him. At some point, Keem ends up at a door with no building attached — after what looks to be a failed attempt at opening said door, he then turns around to face the helicopter head on.

The Melodic Blue follows 2019’s “DIE FOR MY BITCH,” a project that spawned hit singles like “INVENTED IT,” “HONEST,” “MOSHPIT,” and “ORANGE SODA,” all of which quickly made Keem one of the next artists to watch. Last year, he then joined the likes of Polo G, Jack Harlow, Latto, NLE Choppa, Lil Tjay, Rod Wave, and Fivio Foreign as a member of XXL’s Freshman class.

Press play on “issues.”
