Baby Keem is easily one of rap’s most entertaining and talented acts of the younger generation. Although he’s a newcomer in the game, Keem certainly makes moves at a veteran-like pace. Backed by the guiding hand of Kendrick Lamar, Keem emerged with an aura of prestige; how many artists could boast a feature from one of the greatest rappers alive before delivering a debut studio album? Now, the time for him to capitalize on the furious buzz surrounding his name — especially in light of “Family Ties,” his infectious collaboration with Kendrick Lamar — has come. Today (Sept 10), the California artist gives fans what they have been yearning for in an audio package called The Melodic Blue.

Serving as the follow up to his 2019 effort Die For My Bitch, The Melodic Blue proves that the 20-year-old sensation is in a league of his own and that will not change any time soon. With a number of huge releases seeing the light of day in this fourth quarter (including Drake’s Certified Lover Boy, Kanye West’s Donda, and Lil Wayne’s upcoming release), Keem could not have picked a better time to grace the world with his debut effort.
In a recent sit down with Nadeska on Apple Music 1, the “Orange Soda” rapper speaks on the nature of he and Kendrick’s relationship as well as his association with the pgLang brand: “It goes beyond music with me and him. So, whenever I need anything regarding, like life, and if I need some wisdom, then that’s who I go to. That’s one of the first people I look towards, him and Dave Free. It’s been huge for me just as a young man.”
Clocking in at 16 records, the album features minimal outside help. Potential hidden features aside, we’re looking at guest appearances from Don Toliver, Kendrick Lamar, and Travis Scott. Check it out now.
