“This story don’t start off great, I’m a gorilla goin’ ape, I’m just a street n***a tryna make it to a milli in all the wrong ways, I’m runnin’ all the long plays, they said I was born the wrong shade/

I shoulda made it five years ago, my n***a, I was really born lateI used to, carry sticks in my clothes, carry work in my shoes, below the poverty line, what you expect me to do?/”

While the World Was Burning will follow last year’s Ghetto Lenny’s Love Songs, which boasted 14 cuts and assists from Meek Mill, Lil Baby, Lenny Kravitz, and more. Interestingly enough, 2019 also saw a remix of SAINt JHN’s “Roses,” which originally appears on his 2018 debut Collection One. Courtesy of Kazakhstan DJ-producer Imanbek, the remix of “Roses” became the Brooklyn star’s biggest hit to date, topping charts in the United States and around the world.

In an interview with REVOLT, SAINt JHN spoke on bring a songwriter for the likes of Usher, Beyoncé, and Rihanna:

“Before I got any visibility as an artist, I was writing for other people… I was just helping… I got the opportunity to write records for Usher, Kiesza, Jidenna, Nico & Vinz. I guess you could add Beyoncé to that list. At the end of the year, I’ll tell you some more names.”
