Phora is steadily getting in the zone to release his upcoming With Love 2 project. Fresh off his collaboration with Jhené Aiko, Phora links with Kehlani on his latest single “Cupid’s Curse.” The California artist recruits the Bay Area songstress, who comes through on the song’s first verse about being caught up:

“Driving ‘round town in my new Jeep. Runnin’ too deep like there was your keys. I don’t got the time to be on my knees. Just to beg you please wonder when you gon’ sleep. Riding ‘round town with your new flame. She a cute thing, she ain’t nothin’ like mе. Always tryna play but this ain’t a game. And once I’m gone, baby what you gon’ say?”

“Cupid’s Curse” is expected to appear on Phora’s long-awaited sequel to his 2016 project With Love. His last full-length body of work was last year’s Bury Me With Dead Roses, which acted as his first independent release since his departure from Warner Records. His two major label releases, Yours Truly Forever and Love Is Hell, made landfall in 2017 and 2018, respectively.

Kehlani was playing through everyone’s speakers earlier this year in May when she shared her project It Was Good Until It Wasn’t, which saw features from Jhene Aiko, Masego, Lucky Daye, and James Blake. She has also treated fans to a few guest appearances on some strong singles this year such as “Take You Back” with Russ and “Touch Me (Remix) with Victoria Monet.

In an interview with REVOLT, Phora expanded on why most of his songs are rooted in love:

“I was born off of love. I was raised with love. Love has always been around me. Love has always been the most powerful thing in my life even when I was surrounded by only hate. Even when I was surrounded by only envy. Even when I was surrounded by only violence, love has always been the thing I felt the most. Through all of the pain I’ve been through, love has always been the thing that really made me who I am.”
