Come July 30, Isaiah Rashad will deliver his long-awaited sophomore LP The House is Burning, which is currently led by the well-received singles “Headshots (4r Da Locals)” and “Lay Wit Ya” with Duke Deuce. The visual for the latter also seemed to confirm that a previously teased cut — the Lil Uzi Vert-assisted “From The Garden” — would appear on the album as well.

As an “intermission” of sorts, Rashad has decided to blessed his fans with a freestyle over Juvenile and the late Soulja Slim’s 2004 collaboration “Slow Motion,” a Dani Kartel-produced effort that landed on the Cash Money legend’s sixth official body of work Juve the Great. Bookended by a sample of the DJ Jimi-backed regional classic “Bounce (For the Juvenile),” the short play sees Rashad rapping about various women he has in different cities:

“I ask her, “What’s good besides me and this dick?” She working that mouth, I’m working this whip, still working late nights, real money, might spend, yeah money, might spend, still running like, uh, six hunnid HP, lil sunny HD, late time in KD, we were running like, yeah, slow motion for me…”

Upon its eventual release, The House is Burning will follow 2016’s The Sun’s Tirade, Rashad’s Top Dawg Entertainment debut — not counting 2014’s excellent Cilvia Demo — that contained 17 cuts with contributions from SiR, Zacari, Kendrick Lamar, Deacon Blues, Kari Faux, Syd, Hugh Augustine, Jay Rock, and SZA. Since then, Rashad has remained virtually off the radar, staying somewhat active on social media and delivering a loose cut — the Crooklin-produced “Why Worry” — as part of TDE’s Fan Appreciation Week last year. Hopefully, his subsequent drops and presumed return to the stage post-quarantine won’t be far and few in between.
