This past weekend saw the release of Chip’s latest project Snakes & Ladders, which sees 21 tracks and additional appearances from Jme, Dizzee Rascal, Headie One, MoStack, Mavado, Young Adz, Young M.A, D-Block Europe, Stylo G, and more. Continuing the momentum of the release, the London emcee unveils a new visual for “Grown Flex,” his latest collaboration with foe-turned-friend Bugzy Malone that’s centered around a fun, honest romance between the artists and their respective significant others:
“Ah, stick a move, we not lose, baby, please don’t judge, you ain’t been in my shoes, make a couple M’s and that’s a meal for you, Paris reservations, that’s a meal for two/
And if I hit one knee, say you’ll never leave, you see, I’m there for mine, would you be there for me? Through sickness and through health, would you still care for me? Through all of my darkest nights, when nobody there for me.../”
Directed by Craig Capone, the accompanying video sees Chip and Bugzy Malone on a girls and guys night out vibe — something that we’re not going to see much of very soon thanks to the still-active pandemic. Nonetheless, it’s a party in the colorful clip, which bottles popping and plenty of dancing like its New Year’s Eve. Elsewhere, Bugzy can be spotted in a warehouse with his biker crew and some beautiful eye candy of his own.
“Grown Flex” follows a wealth of videos from Snakes & Ladders, including for “Ignite,” “100K,” “Killer MC,” “Lumidee,” “0420,” and “Flowers.” In addition to a return appearance for GRM Daily’s “Daily Duppy” series (which also landed on the mixtape), Chip also dropped a visual for the fiery loose track “10 Commandments,” a scathing diss to Stormzy following his contribution to Ghetts’ “Skengman.”
