Last week, FKA twigs liberated a new mixtape titled CAPRISONGS, which sees 17 tracks and additional features from Pa Salieu, Jorja Smith, Unknown T, Daniel Caesar, Rema, Dystopia, Shygirl, Solo, and The Weeknd — the project was led by the well-received single (and video for) “tears in the club” and has since spawned a dope guerrilla-styled clip for “ride the dragon.” Today (Jan. 19), the British multi-talent unveils a new visual for “meta angel,” a track that sees co-production from Koreless, El Guincho, and Teo Halm and sees twigs singing about her hopes for guidance by way of a spiritual force of sorts:

I wish I had help from a deeper force, some kind of meta angel, then they could whisper all the answers, and maybe life would just slow down, I don’t think that I’ll make it on my own, I’ve got voices in my head, tellin’ me that I won’t make it far, mirrors singin’ in my face, where’d you go? Where’d you go?”

Directed by Aidan Zamiri, said visual for “meta angel” sees FKA twigs in a park seemingly hopeless, until her “angel” (whom she also plays) makes her way to a rooftop and shoots her in the heart with an arrow — it wouldn’t be twigs-certified if said shot wasn’t shown in CGI-graphic detail. All-in-all, the message is absolutely relatable.

Prior to CAPRISONGS, FKA twigs released MAGDALENE in 2019, which came with nine songs and a single appearance from Future on “holy terrain.” Since then, she’s delivered on loose cuts like “Anarchy,” “Don’t Judge Me” with Headie One and Fred again.., “Why Don’t You Love Me” with Dua Lipa, and “Measure Of A Man” with Central Cee, the last of which serves as a lead single for the film The King’s Man.
