Over the past few days, Ty Dolla $ign teased his new single by revealing the track’s collaborators gradually. Now, “Ego Death” has finally arrived, a posse cut featuring Kanye West, FKA Twigs, Skrillex, and serpentwithfeet. The track was originally premiered during Ty$’ set at last year’s Coachella Festival, where he played the songs for the attendees in its entirety. The track was also leaked to the internet this past March.

Thanks to the combination of artists involved, the song switches in subject matter from relationships with loved ones to more socially charged topics — the latter isn’t seen more than within Kanye’s impressive verse:

“Lotta people be thinkin’, but I’m just a sayer, artists can’t perform the Super Bowl, but it’s okay for the players?/

All these half-way movements, need a whole lot improvement, everybody wanna talk, everybody wanna type, ain’t nobody finna do s***/

And everybody throwin’ dirt, all that talk won’t work, all that talk don’t work, now, who you think you talkin’ to nerd? W-w-w-w-w-wait, it get worse/ …

1 in 4 get locked up, your girlfriend get knocked up, Plan B was they Plan A to lower the count of our families, to lower the count on our damn votes/”

“Ego Death” follows last year’s singles “Hottest In The City,” the J. Cole-assisted “Purple Emoji,” and “Midnight Hour,” another collab with Skrillex and also features Boys Noize. Prior to that, Ty Dolla $ign teamed up with Jeremih for the well-received release MihTy in 2018, which saw additional features from Chris Brown, Wiz Khalifa, and French Montana. His last official solo effort, Beach House 3, make landfall in 2017. Most recently, he also lended a hand to the Skrillex track “You See It,” which was released in the midst of the ongoing protests happening around the country.

Fans can press play on “Ego Death” below, which will presumably appear on Ty Dolla $ign’s forthcoming album.
