Valee has enjoyed a busy and fruitful 2021. Things started with March’s The TrAppiEst Elevator Music Ever! and July’s The TrAppiEst Disco Music Ever!, both of which were done with AYOCHILLMANNN and saw collaborations alongside Z Money, Bandland Zz, Casey The Icon, and Ayoant. That was then followed by the five-track VLANE, a joint effort with Stan Lane that featured a single assist from Lil B. Last month then saw Valee and longtime crony CHASETHEMONEY closing out the year properly with Gimme Five Im High, an EP that almost feels like 2021’s best kept secret. This go ’round, the Chicago-to-St. Louis duo blessed the masses with eight tracks and additional features from Bricc Baby, Lil Wop, Lil Stl, and King Louie.

The opening track to Gimme Five Im High, the under two-minute “Coulda Bought A Jag,” immediately shows how much these two are at their best within their respective crafts:

Louis V two different brown like a frap, for the green I’ma pull up like a app, bitch in Buckhead give me tail like a ox, done playin’ games, your ex give me box, bitch really wet, I abandoned the ship, bitch gimme nut like she readin’ a script, 2,000 dollars on Hermes socks, nig’ get too close, he a hot spot where it ain’t hot spots…”

Following a slew of notable projects (including 12:12, 2:22, and 1988), Valee first landed on the commercial radar with 2018’s GOOD Job, You Found Me, a six-track project that saw a single assist from Pusha T and was executive produced by Kanye West. As the title alludes to, the project also marked Valee’s first as an artist signed to West’s G.O.O.D. Music imprint. A year later, he would keep his momentum going with Runnin’ Rich, which saw contributions from G Herbo, Louie, and Vic Mensa.
