It’s been a few years since Clean Bandit released their sophomore LP What Is Love?, a well-received body of work that saw a wealth of contributions from Craig David, Big Boi, KYLE, Sean Paul, Davido, Rita Ora, and more. That project has since earned the genre-bending trio different plaques around the world, including a Gold certification in the United States.

Over the past year, the Grace Chatto-led outfit have been building momentum towards an official follow-up with top tier singles like “Tick Tock” with Mabel and 24kGoldn, “Higher” with iann dior, and “Drive” with Topic and Wes Nelson — the last of which made landfall back in July. This past weekend, Clean Bandit teamed up with Ayo Beatz to remix “Drive,” adding in emcees Chip, Russ Millions, and French The Kid to turn the dance-pop number into a harder-hitting drill vibe for fans to enjoy. As such, the newer collaborators match the song’s love and automobile-oriented subject matter with little effort:

“She wanna roll, I’m puttin’ a chip, got a bumpa coming, I’ll give you a lift, drinkin’ so I can’t drive when I link, now I’m in the Uber on the, A406, see I’m all for badness, yeah, yeah, big Chippy, I’m the cleanest bandit, I’m metaphorically speakin’, so they ain’t gotta clean, I give her the beat, like I need a verse for a remix, biting point, we’re moving yo, hey, put her on top, that’s cruise control…”

The accompanying clip for “Drive (Remix)” sees everyone — Clean Bandit, Ayo Beatz, Topic, Nelson, Chip, Russ, and French — making an appearance throughout. Somewhat with the aforementioned theme of the original song and its own video, the artists are shown performing while showcasing different high-end cars and bikes, from a Ford Mustang to a Mercedes-Benz C63S.
