When it comes to the current frontrunners of R&B, Cali star Kehlani have been providing a unique brand of the genre since she broke through with 2014’s Cloud 19 and, from a much larger scale, 2015’s You Should Be Here, and she’s been at the top ever since. This past May, Kehlani unveiled her sophomore studio LP It Was Good Until It Wasn’t, a well-received offering that boasted 15 tracks and features from Tory Lanez, Jhené Aiko, Masego, Lucky Daye, and James Blake. This week, she follows the formula of previous visuals from the project by delivering a quarantine-friendly clip for “Bad News,” which is produced by Jahaan Sweet and sees Kehlani giving her lover an ultimatum between the streets or the relationship:

“I watched you turn yourself to a made man, all the little things that make you, you can count the ways that I stay down, can’t nobody tell me I ain’t true/

Take a little time from the wild out, you could slow the time down with me, babe, with me, babe/

All I want you to know, is I care, you best believe I care, you’re out there, don’t wanna be out there, no way, you wanna be right here/

Like always, so when I’m here, I make you wanna, give all that s*** up…/”

The self-directed video is mostly black-and-white, and shows Kehlani rocking a wedding dress while engaging in a photoshoot, sitting in a lowrider, enjoying her vices, and more. The clip gets colorful when she’s seen swinging around a pole, given that special someone an additional reason to make her the number one choice.

Previously, fans got to see quarantine-styled videos for “Open (Passionate),” “F&MU,” “Everybody Business,” and “Toxic.” Prior to that, she teamed up with then-boyfriend YG on the Valentine’s Day cut “Konclusions” — only to release her break-up track “Valentine’s Day (Shameful)” mere days later.
