Over the weekend, fans got to check out the latest episode of the Swizz Beatz and Timbaland-helmed “VERZUZ” series, which saw Atlanta veteran 2 Chainz going up against Miami’s Rick Ross, making for one of the best battles we’ve seen thus far. During the stream, viewers also got to check out new music from the two — 2 Chainz revealed “Money Maker,” while Rick Ross debuted a powerful new single titled “Pinned To The Cross,” which sees him addressing the current state of the nation:

“Where you’re forced to be fearless strangers consider you careless, detrimental to my upbringing, I feel so abandoned/

I was lost and confused and therefore had nothing to lose, now I’m running the racket, n***a got cut from the noose/

I just wanna be free, another black man on the run, we was pinned to the cross since our birth under the sun/

Ain’t no hate in my heart, I’ve adapted to rage, step off the stage, p***y n***a right back in the cage…/”

“Pinned To The Cross” features assistance from New Jersey pop singer Finn Matthews and sees production from AraabMUZIK and Fuse 808. The track will also presumably appear on Rozay’s eleventh studio LP Richer Than I’ve Ever Been, which the rapper revealed during a recent interview with HOT 97.

This year has also seen a few notable assists from Rick Ross, providing verses on Paloma Ford’s “All For Nothing” and August Alsina’s “Entanglements.” He also connected with Lil Wayne and Travis Barker on the collaboration “Gimme Brain” late last year. Prior to that, the Maybach Music boss liberated Port Of Miami 2, which landed at the number two spot on the Billboard 200 with 80,000 album equivalent units during its first week of release.
