Emerging rapper Tripple Beanz was shot and killed in broad daylight in Newark, New Jersey on Friday (Nov. 27).

Per security camera footage, the 29-year old New Jersey native, born Corey Thompson, was walking to his car when two masked men dressed in all-black clothing jumped out of their car, approached him from behind, pulled out their guns and opened fire at close range, shooting him multiple times as he rolled on the floor. They eventually made a getaway after what looks like a final shot to his head. The rapper bled out in the road and died at the scene of the crime.

Tripple Beanz — who recently released his single “Dumb Shit” in October — has worked with Gunplay and collaborated with Fetty Wap on his record “Let’s Get It.” Last week, when Fetty’s “Trap Queen” went diamond, Beans took to Instagram to congratulate him.

“My brudda, My slime, My dawg. 1 of the REALEST niggaz I kno!!” he wrote. “Congratulations on #TrapQueen goin diamond!! Niggaz favorite rapper could NEVER!! I NEVER had to ask 4 a HANDOUT!! You always did shit from the HEART!! Nigga u told me bro its NOT a HANDOUT you my BROTHER!!”

Following the news of Beanz’s death, the “1738” emcee posted broken heart emojis under his last Instagram post. The DFG Recording Studio where the New Jersey natives often recorded music also remembered the late rapper with a heartfelt tribute.

“So lost for words...Our hearts are hurting bad here at DFG. Beanz man,” the studio wrote on Instagram. ”A superstar in the making and more importantly family here. Genuinely was tryna change his life around. This was a man who WORKED and had SO MUCH TALENT. This whole thing is so fucked. Tripple Beanz, we love you man and your legacy will forever live on through us and your music.”

An investigation into Beanz’s shooting is ongoing, and no arrests have been made in connection to his murder.

REVOLT sends our deepest condolences to Beanz’s friends and family, including his daughter who he leaves behind.
