Currently, the world awaits the eventual release of Freddie Gibbs’ fifth studio LP Soul Sold Separately. As previously reported by REVOLT, Gibbs recently divulged on who will be contributing production to the forthcoming body of work:

“I’m about to go and work with Pharrell next week. Madlib, Working On Dying, The Alchemist, Sevn Thomas, Hit-Boy. I just talked to [Mike Will Made It] ... It’s gonna be the best produced album that I ever made.”

To hold fans over, the Gary, IN emcee decided to bless the masses with “Vice Lord Poetry,” a freestyle over Drake’s Certified Lover Boy opener “Champagne Poetry.” As expected, Gibbs makes quick work of Shlohmo, J.L.L., Maneesh, Masego, and 40’s sample-infused production with a defiant message to any of his competitors, including one line that may or may not be aimed at a certain Compton talent:

“I was big rabbit before the birth of my son, the Earth ain’t big enough for both of us, you gotta get done, they sayin’ they smoking top fives, but you ain’t burned up the one, uh, fuck niggas talkin’ ‘bout? Like every time I hit the booth, I don’t leave that bitch with a body count...”

Upon its eventual release, Soul Sold Separately will follow last year’s Alfredo, Gibbs collaborative effort with The Alchemist that contained 10 cuts and additional appearances from Rick Ross, Benny The Butcher, Tyler, The Creator, and Conway The Machine. In addition to being Gibbs and Al’s highest-charted album to date, the critically acclaimed release also scored the duo a well-deserved nod for Best Rap Album at this year’s 2021 Grammy Awards — unfortunately, the project and other nominations were bested by Nas and Hit-Boy’s King’s Disease.

Press play on Freddie Gibbs’ “Vice Lord Poetry” below. Hopefully, we’ll be getting more information on Soul Sold Separately — including its official release date — sooner than later.
