Freddie Gibbs wants to make a joint album with Pusha T

Fans are hoping for a Pusha T and Freddie Gibbs joint album after the latter teased the possibility on Twitter. The hypothetical mashup initially arose from a tweet from the “NFR Podcast,” which pit the two MCs against each other.

“Freddie Gibbs VS Pusha T,” the Thursday (Jan. 21) tweet read. “Who’s the current king of coke rap?”

The next morning (Jan. 22) Skinny Suge himself replied. The Grammy-nominated rapper wasn’t interested in a battle, though, and instead said he could see himself recording an album with King Push.

Fuck a versus,” Gibbs wrote. “I would make this album tho.”

Fans quickly ran with the idea online, with many saying the only thing that would make a Gibbs and Pusha joint album better would be production from Madlib, who captured both rappers on Gibbs’ 2019 Bandana cut, “Palmolive.”

“Freddie Gibbs & Pusha T album might be the greatest rap collab album we’ll ever hear, especially if they get Madlib to produce most of the songs,” one fan tweeted.

“A Freddie Gibbs and Pusha T album produced by Kanye West and Madlib would be one [for] the books,” another wrote.

So far, Push hasn’t replied to Gibbs’ idea. The Virginia Beach native is currently working on the follow-up effort to his 2018 LP, Daytona. Pusha previously revealed to Steven Victor that the project will be primarily produced by Kanye West and The Neptunes.

“As of right now, it’s only ‘Ye and Pharrell and Neptunes,” he said last month. “You know I bring the best out... of everybody.”

Gibbs, on the other hand, released Alfredo, his collaborative album with The Alchemist, last May. It is currently nominated for the Best Rap Album award at the 2021 Grammys — marking the Gary, Indiana native’s first Grammy nod.
