CLB has become the first album to reach this milestone this year.

Drake’s Certified Lover Boy album has reached another historical achievement. According to Chart Data, the LP has sold over 500,000 units in the United States, becoming the first album to reach this milestone in under a week this year.

As REVOLT previously reported, the 6 God has become the most-streamed artist in less than 24 hours on Apple Music in 2021. Additionally, his newest LP is Apple Music’s most-streamed album in less than a day this year. CLB also out-streamed Kanye West’s Donda, drawing over 430 million audio plays in the U.S. in the first three days after its release.

The 21-track project, which was released on Sept. 3 after multiple delays, featured appearances from 21 Savage, Lil Baby, Lil Durk, Lil Wayne, Kid Cudi, JAY-Z, Giveon, Travis Scott, Future, Young Thug and more.

Drake was originally supposed to deliver his sixth studio album in January, but a leg injury caused him to push the date back. Last month, the Toronto native “hacked” ESPN’s Sportscenter with a cryptic video announcing the LP’s release date. SportsCenter took to Twitter to address the “hack,” tweeting, “We want to apologize for any interruptions viewers might have experienced during SportsCenter this morning. We had some technical difficulties that have since been resolved.”

Drake is now teaming up with ESPN to provide the soundtrack for the network’s Monday Night Football games. On Tuesday (Sept. 7), the company announced that Drizzy will select music for promotional spots, live telecasts and pre-game shows, choosing songs that “encapsulates both the energy and mood” of games on ESPN.

“Now we are here…the kickoff of the football season. And who better to curate music for Monday Night Football than Drake who sits firmly at the intersection of music and sports. We couldn’t be more excited for this upcoming collaboration,” said Emeka Ofodile, Vice President of Sports Marketing at ESPN, in a release.
