This past weekend, slowthai released his sophomore LP TYRON, a 14-track project that saw additional features from A$AP Rocky, James Blake, Mount Kimbie, Deb Never, Dominic Fike, Denzel Curry, and more. Following previously released visuals for “feel away,” “nhs,” “MAZZA,” and “CANCELLED,” fans can now check out a new clip for “VEX,” and SAMO, Kelvin Krash, and Kwes Darko-produced effort that sounds like a perfect blend of grime and classic Triple 6 Mafia. The track sees slowthai lashing out against social media and its negative effects on us all:

“Skets gettin’ me stressed right now, calm down, darling, your poom poom’s loose, I see you’re tryna flex right now, don’t care about you or your Jimmy Choos, I ain’t playin’ kiss chase, I ain’t playin’ duck duck goose/

Can tell that you ain’t got a clue, heard your man’s mixtape, thought it’s a piss-take, so I use its case to ash my zoot/”

As with previous videos, the video for “VEX” is full of random and trippy — read: gross — surprises. Centered around the presumably fictional restaurant called Trogdolyte Bites, slowthai and his fellow employees are big on unorthodox activities, from spitting in customers’ orders to using rather suspicious looking meat products for their burgers. All of this is interspersed with shots of people seemingly zombified by the food, making for the type of watch that one should probably avoid while in the middle of a meal.

TYRON follows 2019’s Nothing Great About Britain, a critically acclaimed body of work that originally contained 11 cuts and assists from Skepta, Jaykae, and Mura Masa — a deluxe edition subsequently made landfall with six more songs. That time frame also saw loose singles like “Thoughts,” “BB (BODYBAG),” and “MAGIC” with Kenny Beats, as well as contributions of his own to songs by the likes of Disclosure and Gorillaz.
