Back in May, Preme made his latest return to wax with the the socially charged offering “Lost Hope.” Last month, the Canadian star then followed that with “Pause Play,” which — like the aforementioned single — sees production from Dnny Phntm and takes on a more boastful vibe with bars about getting to the bag and spending it like a rockstar:
“Bang, bang, kill it, gotta go, go get it, I’ma lean, rock with it, in the trap, goin’ silly, if she drop like it’s hot, tell that bitch bounce with it, talkin’ big block flippin’, talkin’ big sauce spillin’, got a check, big drip, I’m drenched, pardon my French, I’m with a foreign bitch, and she don’t speak no English, big money spent, blow like a vent, been tryna hit it, if you with it, come and get it, real Don shit, kiss the ring…”
The video for “Pause Play” comes courtesy of Zac Facts and matches the lavish lifestyle heard on the booming cut perfectly. Beginning with a shot of a tape player, viewers then see Preme and various women in California amongst his various spoils — including high-end whips, expensive threads and matching jewelry, and straight cash.
It’s been three years since Preme liberated his debut LP Light of Day, a 15-track body of work that saw additional appearances from Offset, PARTYNEXTDOOR, Post Malone, Ty Dolla $ign, Lil Wayne, and YG. One particular standout from that album, the Post Malone-assisted “Jackie Chan,” later recieved a remix via electronic heavyweights Tiësto and Dzeko, effectively helping the song catapult onto charts around the world. Last October, he connected with fellow OVO affiliate Popcaan for the six-track EP Link Up, which contained collaborations alongside Wiz Khalifa, Davido, BEAM, and French Montana.
