Feb. 23 was a major day for hip hop, as it marked the moment when Bobby Shmurda was once again free following a six-year stint in prison. While GS9 co-star Rowdy Rebel has been active from a musical standpoint, Bobby has chosen to take his time before he makes an official turn to wax. With that said, the Brooklyn talent has been outside amongst his peers giving off the type of positive energy that’s impossible for a fan not to smile at. A couple of months ago, Shmurda took to the stage at Rolling Loud Miami, where he premiered a new song — days later, he would surface on a remix of Eladio Carrión and J Balvin’s “Tata,” further fueling the hopes that a new release was coming soon.

Today (Sept. 3), our collective prayers have been answered with “No Time For Sleep (Freestyle),” the first official single from Bobby Shmurda that was first teased earlier this week on social media. If anyone had any doubts of his abilities post-incarceration, Shmurda immediately destroys them with his hard-hitting, boastful affair:

“Bitch, .45 on my waist, don’t gotta turn the key, bitch, .45 on my waist, I’m in my Bentley Jeep, bitch, turned that fire on them niggas, they was twenty-three, if I put that iron on them niggas, they remember me, if you heard we slidin’ on them niggas, they make memories…”

Shmurda also liberated a matching video for the track courtesy of Denity, which takes on a military-styled theme reminiscent of classic No Limit Records clips. Viewers can see Shmurda with a couple of beautiful women decked out in soldier gear, toting guns and reminding us all why the NYC drill pioneer is still one of the hardest out.

Check out Bobby Shmurda’s “No Time For Sleep (Freestyle).” Hopefully, his official debut LP — said to be titled Chocolate City — is making landfall before year’s end.
