The re-release sees nine additional tracks from the Floridian star.

A few months ago, Rod Wave dropped off his third studio LP SoulFly, which contained 19 tracks with a single feature from Polo G — the project was also led by the well-received standouts “Tombstone” and “Street Runner.” From a commercial standpoint, SoulFly solidified the Floridian star’s stance as one of hip hop’s current frontrunners, landing him his first number one on the Billboard 200 thanks to 130,000 album equivalent units sold during its first week of release.

Following a new single titled “Time Heals,” today (August 20) sees Rod Wave liberating a deluxe edition of SoulFly, which adds on a healthy nine cuts, along with new contributions from Kodak Black and Lil Durk on “Get Ready” and “Already Won,” respectively. Another song, the Will-A-Fool-produced “2019,” sees him reflecting on a past relationship, among other emotionally charged subjects:

“Look, sitting in my feelings reminiscing ‘bout the past, can’t never forget you, all the time that we had, young nigga caught the bug so he love so attached, I paint the whole sky red, do you remember that? I’m the one that saved the day, I’m the onе that you would call on, but now you feel away, feeling I did you all wrong…”

SoulFly follows last year’s Pray 4 Love, another success for Rod Wave that both peaked at number two on the aforementioned chart, and later saw a deluxe upgrade. 2020 also saw him and Polo G joining NLE Choppa, Calboy, Lil Tjay, Fivio Foreign, Baby Keem, Jack Harlow, Chika, Latto, Lil Keed, and 24kGoldn as that year’s XXL Freshman class, which many consider as one of the best groups from the magazine’s annual series to date.
