This Friday (Mar. 26), Rod Wave is set to release his third studio LP SoulFly, which will see 19 tracks and a single assist from Polo G. As one last offering before the official drop, Rod has shared a brand new single “Tombstone.” On the track, Rod Wave raps about his come up, his life growing up, and how the real ones will be there when he leaves:

I keep my gun in my drawers, ducking the sad news/ My phone say seven missed calls, I know it’s bad news/ This life had left me so scarred, I’m knowing that’s true, remember times got so hard, I got it tattoed/ I ain’t did no shows but made some bread. I gotta keep the family fed/ Look, just talked to pops about the feds. I ain’t gon’ lie, he had me scarеd/ I feel ‘em coming, n***a. I’ll keep on running, n***a. If wе go down bad, keep it a hundred, n***a/ My girl all in my ear screaming, “Spend some time”/ And fuck these n***as ‘cause they lame

The visual takes the viewers through a family navigating some harsh realities. “Tombstone” is the second promotional single and fifth track off of SoulFly. Rod first previewed the song in an Instagram Live in late 2020 and announced the single over Instagram on the day of release.

Upon its release, the aformentioned SoulFly will follow last year’s Pray 4 Love, which initially saw 14 tracks and some adlibs from ATR Son Son. The project landed Rod Wave at the number two spot on the Billboard 200 thanks to 72,000 album equivalent units sold during its first week of release. A deluxe edition of Pray 4 Love also made landfall month’s later.
