Today, Moneybagg Yo unveiled his fourth studio LP A Gangsta’s Pain, which sees a healthy 22 tracks with additional features from Kaash Paige, Future, Polo G, Lil Durk, Jhené Aiko, Pharrell Williams, and more. Accompanying the album’s release is a visual for the YC and RealRed-produced cut “Shottas (Lala),” a clear sign that the Memphis star is still focused on the money:

“La-la, ha-ha, laugh to the bank, go like, ‘Haha,’ dada, what’s she sayin’? I hear, ‘Blah-blah,’ lots of rocks on me like I’m Tata, baba, sippin’ lean like it’s aqua, pop a Percocet before you chop a chopper, when it bust, you hear ‘Brrat, brrat,’ doctor, servin’ patients, I’m a trapper, roster, I been runnin’ with some shottas…/”

The accompanying clip takes us to Kingston, Jamaica, where Moneybagg Yo channels plenty from the iconic film that the song takes from. Throughout, viewers can see Moneybagg and his ultra-violent crew holding a man hostage over money and drugs — elsewhere, a massive shootout takes place at the rapper’s lavish residence. Simply put, everything comes with a price.

A Gangsta’s Pain follows last year’s Time Served, which originally contained 15 songs with contributions from the likes of Lil Baby, DaBaby, Summer Walker, Fredo Bang, and Megan Thee Stallion. The release was a big success as well, landing at the number three spot on the Billboard 200 thanks to 66,000 album equivalent units sold during its first week of release. Months later, fans would get a deluxe edition of Time Served with seven more songs and added assists from BIG 30, Rylo Rodriguez, and more. 2020 also saw Moneybagg team up with fellow hometown hero Blac Youngsta for the joint effort Code Red, a top ten hit for both artists.
