Currently, G-Eazy is said to be putting the finishing touches on his forthcoming album These Things Happen Too, the sequel to 2014’s These Things Happen. This week, he seems to deviate from said project to deliver a new freestyle titled “Break From LA,” which sees the Bay Area star reflecting on a lot of the negatives that came with his current success — mainly in regards to the City of Angels:

“Uncharted territory, been paving a way, none of my friends or family have been famous this way, feel all alone, you and I are the same in this way, I vent, but nobody wants to hear me complainin’ today/

Fuck, maybe I just need a break from LA, the magnetism makes it difficult stayin’ away, it’s always somethin’ and I know this sounds crazy to say, the fact is ever since I’ve been breakin’ away/”

Last year, G-Eazy unveiled an experimental project titled Everything’s Strange Here, a 10-song body of work that saw him delving into more alternative genres outside of hip hop. Prior to that, he released his third studio LP The Beautiful & Damned, which contained 20 cuts and additional features from Halsey, Charlie Puth, A$AP Rocky, Cardi B, Kehlani, E-40, and more. The Beautiful & Damned stands as G-Eazy’s best full-length to date, landing him a top three spot on the Billboard 200 — thanks to 122,000 album equivalent units sold during its first week of release — and a Platinum certification.

Recently, fans have heard a slew of singles that could be from These Things Happen Too, including “Still Be Friends” with Tory Lanez and Tyga, “Moana” with Jack Harlow, “Down” with Mulatto, and “Provide” with Chris Brown and Mark Morrison. Hopefully, a release date for the album will soon follow.
