In addition to his more experimental release Everything’s Strange Here, G-Eazy has been peppering his fan base with several loose cuts over the past year or so, including “Still Be Friends” with Tory Lanez and Tyga, “Bounce Back” with Rexx Life Raj and Jay Anthony, “Moana” with Jack Harlow, and — more recently — the Mulatto-assisted “Down.” Now, the Bay Area star is back with a new single titled “Hate The Way,” which features blackbear and sees production from Ryan OG and Mike Crook. The track centers around G-Eazy reflecting over a woman that he’s longing for, despite the toxicity of their relationship:

“Made a promise to myself, a promise I should stick to, talking to myself, I said I promised I would quit you, I’ve been trying to let go, but it’s powerful, it grips you, first you think you got control until I see you, can’t resist you/

Know I got my issues, some I won’t admit to, no one’s got the answers, everybody wants to fix you, got this magic 8 ball, but I ain’t got no crystal, just don’t fall in Courtney Love, And don’t go Cobain with no pistol/”

The visual comes courtesy of Kat Webber and stars Lithuanian actress Bria Vinaite, who is probably known best for her role in 2017’s The Florida Project. The clip begins with G-Eazy walking towards her as she stands near a cliff, before she jumps and kickstarts an almost dreamlike, water-heavy sequence of events between the two. G-Eazy can be seen both trying to clean his life up while fighting the magnetic pull of his co-star, who’s still dealing with her demons.
