It’s amazing to see how much success that Sheff G has achieved since 2017’s “No Suburban.” This year along has seen him keeping fairly busy, despite the still-active quarantine and social justice-related chaos that the country — hell, the world — has been experiencing. In addition to singles alongside partner-in-crime Sleepy Hallow like “Head Tap” and “Tip Toe,” the Brooklyn artist also released the full-length project One and Only and the EP Just 4 Yall in May and July, respectively. This week, he returns with “Lights On,” which is produced by Great John and sees Sheff G back on his vivid street raps:

“Look, turn the lights on, shooter gang in the buildin’, huh, a hunnid straps, how you feelin’? We came to, woah, we came to, uh, look, ’cause we came to send this b***h up/

It’s me, Sheff G, I’m the realest, it’s f*** how you feelin’, n***a, it’s me, Sheff G, keep your distance, the gang ain’t too friendly, n***a…/”

“Lights On” also sees a music video directed by Ryan Lynch, a quick-moving clip that shows an iced out Sheff G in different locations, including a lavish residence, in just high-end whip, and on a private plane — there’s even a symbolic goat appearance for added effect. Sheff and his crew are clearly winning from a financial standpoint, as viewers are able to see throughout.

Not too long ago, Sheff G and Sleepy Hallow announced a partnership between their Winners Circle imprint and RCA Records, which also includes fellow rapper Eli Fross, Great John, and managers Jeremy “Jerm” Soto and Karel “White” Jorge. Via Billboard, Sheff spoke on the new venture:

“We’re happy to be here. We worked hard and led the streets for a minute. Now it’s time to take this whole thing over. We did that. And there’s more coming,”
