This past weekend, 21 Savage and Metro Boomin liberated the sequel to their 2016 EP Savage Mode, which sees 15 new tracks from the Atlanta-to-St. Louis duo and a few assists from Drake, Young Thug, and Young Nudy. Following the recent video drop for “Runnin” comes a second clip for “My Dawg,” which sees additional production from Kid Hazel. On the hard-hitting cut, 21 Savage raps about the late Nipsey Hussle, street life, and even his now well-publicized British background:

“N***a keep talkin’ that U.K. s*** like I don’t got AKs, like, ‘cause I was born overseas, these motherf***ers ain’t gon’ spray-spray/

Pull up in your hood, n***a, 9-1-1, y’all better call mayday, from Glenwood all the way to Martin Luther King, n***as know we don’t play-play…/”

The video shows Savage and Boomin on a lavish estate, giving off retro drug lord vibes with deals being made in various locations around the mansion. They also utilize out-of-place fixtures like school lockers and eighteenth century era Redcoats to help bring Savage’s non-fiction lyrics to life on-screen.

Savage Mode II follows 21 Savage’s sophomore studio LP I Am > I Was, which saw 15 tracks and features from J. Cole, Childish Gambino, Schoolboy Q, Post Malone, Offset, Lil Baby, Travis Scott, and more. That project scored Savage a number one placement on the Billboard 200 thanks to 131,000 album equivalent units being sold during its first week of release.

In addition to his collaborative projects, Metro Boomin released his own debut album, Not All Heroes Wear Capes, in 2018, which was led by the singles “No Complaints” with Drake and Offset and “Space Cadet” with Gunna. That project also debuted at number one, collecting 99,000 album equivalent units for the hit-making producer.
