Megan Thee Stallion has just served up a BET Awards 2021 performance that definitely lived up to expectations.

Hitting the stage at Los Angeles’ Microsoft Theatre for the Sunday night (June 27) performance, Megan performed “Thot Shit,” a new single she unloaded just a couple of weeks ago. For the performance, she bounced across the stage in the glow of blueish stage lights and had a group of dancers clad-in black join her.

With its electric OG Parker-produced beat and an energetic flow from Megan, “Thot Shit” is a song that feels tailor-made for live performances. It’s a good thing that, after a year in which most people were kept inside due to the COVID-19 pandemic, folks are finally allowed outside. Otherwise, Megan might not have gotten the chance to perform her new song in a live setting like this one. She clearly made the most of the opportunity.

The performance was just the beginning of a dope sequence for Megan. Moments after she hit the stage, Megan, along with Cardi B was announced as the winner of the Best Video award. The video that won them the trophy, of course, was the visual for “WAP,” an electric single they unleashed last year. With its raunchy lyrics—and a visual that only doubles down on the sexuality of the song itself—the video went viral a million times over. As it stands, the video has 404 million views on YouTube. Salute.

Other dope performances in the early going of tonight’s show include dope moments from Tyler, The Creator, Migos, and Lil Baby and Kirk Franklin. The DMX tribute, which will feature appearances from several rap luminaries, is still ahead, too.
