Trina reveals she’s down to battle Lil Kim in a Verzuz

Trina says she’s interested in competing against Lil Kim in a Verzuz, but “nobody reached out.”

It’s been a year since Swizz Beatz and Timbaland introduced Verzuz to the world, but it still seems to start musical debates, and spark the interest of invested fans and artists who desire to make an appearance on the platform. Recently, during an interview with 103.5 The Beat, Trina was asked to name the emcee best fit to face her in a Verzuz, and she chose Brooklyn’s own, Queen Bee.

[Lil] Kim is that bitch. Let’s be very clear...When I came into the industry, this is who I looked at, looked up to. This is the lyrics that I recited, this is what made me know that it’s okay to talk that lethal shit...,” she explained.

“Therefore, I would feel like that’s equivalent because Kim is legendary, and she got mad records.”

I[t] won’t even feel like a competition because it’s a family thing,” she continued. “I’m probably gonna be so much more engaged in her records than anything cuz it’ll go back to when I first heard her, so I’ll be in my vibe, like fanned out...That’s just what I would say. That’s just my little opinion, but nobody reached out.”

Trina and Lil Kim have long been friends, but their history includes a brief separation that occurred for reasons that were not disclosed. Fortunately, the two reconciled after the deaths of Trina’s mother and Kim’s father.

Back in 2019, Kim posted a photo of her and the Miami rapper alongside the caption:

“On this very day I found out my Daddy passed away. I was so distraught and had to put on a brave face, and keep working because I had a show that same night. When @trinarockstarr came into my dressing room we instantly bonded. She comforted me, and it was exactly what I needed in that moment. It’s as if her Mom and my Dad brought us together and healed our friendship. We both have angels watching over us.”

She also discussed their reunion in an interview with Nick Cannon. “Let me tell you how God works. I ran into Trina, and, you know, she just lost her mind,” said Kim. “Her and I used to be really really close before long time we were kinda estranged…Her and I feel like her mom and my dad brought us back together. Its crazy.”

Swizz and Tim haven’t shared their thoughts on Trina’s desired battle, but if things work out in her favor, she and Kim will be the first Verzuz showdown between two female rappers.

Would you be down to see the two emcees go track-for-track in a Verzuz?
