In 2014, when “Trap Queen” hit the radio and streaming services, fans and people in the music industry were excited to see what else Fetty Wap had in store. The New Jersey native eventually followed up the record with his equally impressive self-titled album, but then, at what seemed to be the peak of his music career, it seemed he went missing in action.

Earlier this week, a confused fan reached out to Fetty to ask about his hiatus from music, and he provided an explanation. “I actually don’t know how u fell off,” the Instagram user wrote, to which the “My Way” singer replied, “Bad business managers… greed and selfishness… but it’s almost over.”

“I got rid of all that goofy shit around me,” he continued. “Now I can focus on the music … and I’m goin tf up. Just watch.”

Though Fetty seemed to entertain the fact that he fell off, he has actually released a few songs in the years following his debut album. Unfortunately, the records failed to have the same effect as his earlier music, but he’s still working hard to reclaim his spot in the game.

This year alone, the “Jimmy Choo” artist released his Trap & B EP for the lovebirds who love trap music as well as his Zoovie EP. His most recent project You Know The Vibes

which features Styles P and frequent Remy Boyz collaborator Monty — came out on Friday (Dec. 11) along with the visual for his “Way Past 12” single.

As the rapper continues to release music, his “Trap Queen” song — which is still being streamed — went diamond in late November. Other notable accomplishments from the early years of Fetty’s career include Grammy nominations and placements on various Billboard charts, including the Billboard Hot 100, Billboard Hot 200 and Billboard’s Hot Rap Songs chart.
