Social media has been up in arms all day today (Nov. 24) since the 2021 Grammys nominations were announced. While some of our favorites such as Beyonce, Roddy Ricch, Chloe x Halle, Jhene Aiko, Freddie Gibbs, Royce da 5’9,” Megan Thee Stallion are being considered for awards; there were a number of other artists who were noticeably snubbed — one of them being recording artist The Weeknd.
The star released his latest album, After Hours, back in March of this year. One of his singles “Blinding Lights” even topped the Billboard charts. However, none of The Weeknd’s music was nominated in the upcoming awards show. This set a lot of people off including not only his fans, but fellow artists.
“Abel was robbed man,” Kid Cudi tweeted following the announcement. “This shit’s weak.” See that below.

The star has now reacted to his snub on Twitter. In a single tweet referring to the Grammys, which has been known to show little to no respect for Black musicians, Weeknd said: “The Grammys remain corrupt. You owe me, my fans and the industry transparency...” Check that out below.

Other stars who social media realized were snubbed by the 2021 Grammys were Kehlani for her It Was Good Until It Wasn’t album, which she dropped in May, as well as Brandy’s B7, which she released in July.
R&B singer Teyana Taylor even called out the awards show after seeing that no women were nominated in the Best R&B Album category. “Y’all was better off just saying best MALE R&B ALBUM cause all I see is dick in this category,” she tweeted after it was revealed that John Legend, Luke James, Ant Clemons, Giveon and Gregory Porter were given nominations.
Fans of hers quickly backed her up. One Taylor supporter replied under her tweet: “Wow. @TEYANATAYLOR you deserve MANY awards, but this is just the game they play. Don’t forget your impact, this doesn’t invalidate your success! You knew that tho!”
