Rising Houston artist reggie shares his second offering of 2021 today (Sept. 23), “Avalanche” featuring Smino. With production from Groove, Teej, Asa DVS, the song draws from a place of self-reflection and pride on reggie’s journey and perseverance as an artist. The accompanying video is directed by ILLIMITEWORLD and centers a nostalgic summer scene as reggie and Smino are surrounded by loved ones and reminisce on where they have been:

Growing up, wе was always bad as hell, hair ain’t changed, still nappy and my lips still chappin’/ I ain’t gettin’ no naps in, I’m just tryna gеt back in and I hope that God think I’m ready/ I hope that God think ‘bout me lettin’

“Smino’s my country cousin, that’s really my brother at this point,” reggie says about the collaboration via press release. “We met and instantly clicked and made this song in like 2 hours back in 2019. He’s probably the only person that can make me rap, no bs it’s always fun working with bro. I really feel like we be in the same book. So in the verses we on a different page but it’s the same story and then we find each other on the hook.”

“Avalanche” follows reggie’s earlier releases of “I Don’t Wanna Feel No More,” “Southside Fade” and “Ain’t Gon Stop Me,” which was released earlier this year and features production from Monte Booker and Kenny Beats.

In terms of other recent collabs, Smino also joined Syd earlier this month for their “Right Track” joint song and made an appearance on Yebba’s debut album Dawn. He also joined forces with Saba during Black History Month to contribute to Judas and the Black Messiah soundtrack with “Plead The .45” and also tapped in with Kenny Beats and Denzel Curry on their joint project UNLOCKED 1.5.
