Smino officially makes his return with his brand new single “Rice & Gravy.” The track is the first released song by Zero Fatigue duo, Smino and Monte Booker, since the release of “Backstage Pass” (featuring the Drums), which was released Aug 18th, 2020. “Rice & Gravy” is a song about Smino’s roots as he gets candid on the track by rapping about his family and early life over his comfort zone of Monte Booker’s production:

Ain’t much changed lil’ booger, know a n***a still sit here smokin’ on boogers (Boogers)/ Still look out for my sisters/ They the one that put me on game, no rookie, never let a lil’ ho spin yo’ ass (No), spin yo’ cash

Life a movie, n***a, pick your cast Quentin Taran-Smino, blackjack, no casino (Yeah, yeah, yeah)/ North County, yeah, that’s where my blood, my family ATL spill it out for the family, yeah, I know (I spill it out, oh)/ Done, done it all, all summer long, these kids poppin’ they sing along/

In terms of other verses we’ve heard from Smino this year, he joined forces with Saba during Black History Month to contribute to Judas and the Black Messiah soundtrack with “Plead The .45.” Smi also made an appearance on Kenny Beats and Denzel Curry’s joint project UNLOCKED 1.5.

Smino’s last project is his She Already Decided mixtape that came out in April last year. Since then, he’s dropped cuts like “Tempo,” “Backstage Pass” with Monte Booker and The Drums, “Baguetti” with JID and Kenny Beats, and the “Dragonball Durag” with Thundercat and Guapdad 4000. In 2018, he released his well-loved NOIR project which boasted fan favorites like “KLINK” and “Z4L” with Bari and Jay2.
