As the world waits for a new album from WESTSIDE BOOGIE, the Compton emcee has been keeping his fans fed with short freestyles over the past month or so. For his latest, he decided to try his hand at Brooklyn drill by jumping on the instrumental for CJ’s “Whoopty.” As with previous releases, BOOGIE makes quick work of the Pxcoyo-produced cut with the multi-layered bars he’s popular for:

“I’m with the whoopties, don’t tell me you gang ‘cause it ain’t the same, you say it too loosely, I’m sayin’, “Free Ruccki,” as long as I’m here, they say they ain’t knew me, but I’ll be immortal if somebody shoot me/

That shit get depressin’ and start to get to me, I call up this, tell her to scoop me, like, “Can we get faded?” Then come with a plan, them tabs got me thinkin’ I’m changin’ the weather by movin’ my hand/”

The short clip that accompanies the freestyle gives off an old-school 90’s feel, and sees BOOGIE masked up with his compadres and rapping the verse in his car. It’s a quick minute-in-a-half play that you’re probably going to replay multiple times in order to catch every line.

Way back in 2019, WESTSIDE BOOGIE dropped his debut album Everythings for Sale, a 13-track project that saw additional appearances from 6LACK, JID, Eminem, Christian Scott, Snoh Aalegra, and Shaé Universe — the critically acclaimed release followed the equally dope mixtapes Thirst 48, The Reach, and Thirst 48, Pt. II.

In addition to the freestyle drops, BOOGIE did liberate “Outside,” his first official single since Everythings for Sale which features Joey BADA$$ and gives hope that a sophomore LP is somewhere on the horizon. Hopefully, we’ll get more information on a new body of work sooner than later.

In the meantime, fans can enjoy WESTSIDE BOOGIE’s “Whoopty Freestyle” below.
