Back in 2018, Nipsey Hussle blessed the masses with his first official LP Victory Lap, which saw 14 tracks and additional appearances from Stacy Barthe, YG, REVOLT’s own Diddy, Kendrick Lamar, Buddy, Konshens, TeeFlii, The-Dream, Cee-Lo Green, Marsha Ambrosius, and more. Unfortunately, the world suffered a massive loss with Nipsey’s passing, as his life transitioned the following year after a senseless shooting in the parking lot of Nipsey’s Marathon storefront.

Fast-forward to today, and Nipsey’s family and friends have decided to release a live visual “experience” based around The Marathon, which passed the tenth year anniversary mark back in December. That project saw 18 tracks and additional features from Kokane, Mars of 1500 or Nothin’, and MGMT. The Marathon also acted as the beginning of a series that led to the equally important projects The Marathon Continues and the aforementioned Victory Lap.

Nipsey’s estate explained the forthcoming stream during their official announcement, which was also based around The Marathon’s anniversary mark:

“In commemoration of this anniversary we’re proud to announce our collaborative effort with Okidoki to bring to life an interactive live visual album experience coming in 2021 … The experience will give viewers [an] intimate look at the era that helped shape this masterpiece. The people, the places, the stories, and more. Stay tuned, official drop date coming soon!”

The world continues to reel from Nipsey’s senseless murder, which occurred in March of 2019. Following his transition, many of his peers — from both sides of the country — travelled to Los Angeles to pay their respects during his homegoing ceremony at the Staples Center. According to some of his peers and past collaborators, there’s enough material to create a proper, posthumous album.

Until that comes to fruition, fans can press play on The Marathon’s live visual experience below.
