Back in September, Problem released the second installment of his Coffee & Kush series, which saw 11 tracks and additional appearances from Tyrese, Jack Harlow, Jay Rock, Terrace Martin, Freddie Gibbs, and more. This week, the Compton rapper reveals a short new visual from that project for “Just Outside,” a Don Cannon-produced effort that sees Problem reflecting on how to continue navigating towards continued success in the midst of various obstacles around him:

“We was just outside, was just outside, outside together … now we, posted away, shit, what more can I say, these are the days and times, when the light gets shined, on things we be blind to/

Somewhat big in the world, but I feel 5’2”, when thinking ‘bout what can happen whenever I slide through, not talkin’ tough, but tough, you slide, we slide too, buck buck buck, you die one, yea, we die two…/”

While very minimalist, the accompanying video is very effective in recreating the vibe of the song. It begins with Problem looking out over a cliff while his son Prince is reading a book, before the camera drones out over the area and circles the breathtaking scenery. Eventually, the camera pans back to Problem and his still-reading son sitting next to each other. In this case, less was definitely more.

Released mere months prior to Vol. 2, Coffee & Kush, Vol. 1 saw ten cuts with zero features. Regardless, it set a high standard for a series that its successor continued, making many of us hope that there will be more volumes to come sooner than later. In addition to those two releases, 2020 also saw Problem liberate a short film titled A Compton Story, which starred and/or saw involvement from Snoop Dogg, Terrence “Punch” Henderson, Mike Epps, Jackie Long, and more.
