MadeInTYO is slowly building up anticipation for his upcoming project, and although no concrete details have been relayed, today (Sept. 24) we received his new collab single “Money Up” featuring Toro y Moi. The visual features MadeInTYO and his love interest spending the day together in their home, but the most unavoidably striking about the visual is the pair’s unexplained deformed faces. In the Cobain-directed video, MadeInTYO is seen reading an issue of EBONY magazine from March 1970.

In his verse, Tokyo gives a shout out to fellow rapper Tay K:

“F**k 12, I can’t stand a copper. Free Tay K, you ‘posed to be out here. Get that money up, yеah, don’t f**k the money up. I could get you boozed, on your tummy tuck.”

For the latter half of the song, Toro y Moi slides in smoothly for his verse about his confidence:

“This a tour, not a boys night. Too mature for these joyrides. Money heavy, gotta keep an eye on my people where they all reside. Cut the cheque, now I’m verified, ayy. Cop the check, now I’m worth the time.”

In 2020, MadeInTYO has contributed to a slew of singles, including “Square B**ch” with A$AP Ferg, “Move Ya Hips” with Ferg again and Nicki Minaj, “Tokyo Nights” with Tm88, and “Vintage Like Lee” with Vintage Lee. The new “Money Up” single could be the signal of a new project coming very soon, and MadeInTYO played into this by captioning his post about the song with “Who’s ready for the album?” Moreover, his name on Instagram reads “NEVER FORGOTTEN soon,” which is likely the name of his upcoming project.

MadeInTYO’s last studio album was Sincerely, Tokyo which dropped back in 2018. The 14-track project included features from Roy Woods, Tinashe, Blood Orange, Gunna and 24hrs and was led by his single with A$AP Ferg titled “Ned Flanders.”
