Tay-K indicted for a second murder

The rapper was sentenced to 55 years in prison this summer on a different murder charge.

Tay-K has been indicted for a second murder charge, while he is currently fulfilling a 55-year sentence for his first murder conviction.

According to local San Antonio news outlet, KSAT-TV, the rapper was indicted on a capital murder charge in Bexar County, TX on Friday (Nov. 15). Tay-K is accused of fatally shooting a 23-year-old photographer named Mark Anthony Saldivar during a robbery on the North Side of San Antonio in April of 2017, when the rapper was 16 years old.

The murder allegedly took place while Tay-K was on the run, following his first murder charge. The “Megaman” rapper was under house arrest in Tarrant County, TX in 2017, when he cut off his ankle monitor and fled to San Antonio, TX. He was accused of murdering Saldivar when the victim’s mother named Tay-K in a wrongful death lawsuit, filed in 2018.

In the suit, Saldivar’s mother alleged that Tay-K “intentionally and knowingly and recklessly committed criminal homicide or murder by shooting and killing” her son after robbing him of his “expensive camera equipment.” She claims Tay-K forced her son out of a vehicle before shooting him to death in a Chick-fil-A parking lot, leaving him to “die on the street.”

During this time, Tay-K became the subject of a nationwide man hunt, which was also when he recorded and released his hit song, “The Race.” Authorities captured the rapper in New Jersey in July of 2017.

According to Fort Worth, Texas television station KXAS, Tay-K was arrested with six other people back in 2016 for a home invasion in Mansfield, TX, where 21-year-old Ethan Walker was killed. Back in July, Tay-K was found guilty of murder and robbery in the incident and was sentenced to 55 years in prison for the murder charge, 30 years for one of the counts of aggravated robbery and two 13-year sentences for the two other counts of aggravated robbery. His song “The Race” was used as evidence during his trial.

According to KSAT-TV, the rapper was extradited on Aug. 9 to the Bexar County Jail in Texas, where he is currently awaiting trial.
