Freddie Gibbs is currently sailing high off of his recent Grammy nomination for Alfredo, his joint album with The Alchemist. This week, the Indiana emcee decided to team up with Brian “B.Dot” Miller’s “Art Of Facts” series to deliver a new freestyle titled “Tell Me,” which utilizes Bobby Valentino’s “Tell Me” as the choice of instrumental. The freestyle sees Gibbs rapping about his drug-dealing past:

“Yeah-yeah, had a bag ‘fore the hashtags, James Brown jammin’ on the glass, save the last dance, almost lost my eye that n***a past got that n***a stabbed, signed my publishin’, I copped the nine, peaced with my advance/

Trickin off on Erica with my advance, I can’t make it last cuz she keep bringin’ shit up out the past, I just had a baby, livin’ crazy with my dog ass, baby mama drama on my collar it be all bad/”

Alfredo was released back in May and boasted 10 tracks, with collaborations alongside Benny The Butcher, Rick Ross, Tyler, The Creator, and Conway The Machine. The project became the highest-charting album for both Freddie Gibbs and The Alchemist, landing at number 15 on the Billboard 200 with 30,000 album equivalent units sold during its first week of release. Alfredo was also the second body of work created by Gibbs and Alchemist — 2018 saw the release of Fetti, an album that also saw Curren$y joining in on the fun.

In an interview with High Snobiety, Gibbs spoke on creating music with The Alchemist:

“I was rapping on Alchemist beats, before I was rapping on Alchemist beats. Does that make any sense? ... I would imagine myself rapping over them. I would see the sh*it that Prodigy was doing and I’d be like, ‘Damn I can do that too.’ I feel like I’m living out my childhood dreams, making records with this man.”
