The music world continues to mourn the loss of Juice WRLD, who trajectory left this world late last year. This week, world renowned producer Benny Blanco celebrated what would have been Juice WRLD’s 22nd birthday by revealing some details of their working relationship on social media:

“my friend played me a song like 2 or 3 years ago... i looked at him and said it was one of the best songs i had ever heard... my friend didnt even know the artists name... said it was juice or something... i searched and searched on instagram until i came across juice’s page... he had 9k followers at the time... i dmed him and said we had to work... he said he was coming to la in a week and we could go in then... i booked us a studio... he didnt even have a record deal... labels were coming to the session all night trying to butter him up and offer him anything he wanted... he didn’t give a fuck... he just wanted to make music...”

In addition to the heartfelt story, Blanco also unearthed a collaboration with him and Juice WRLD titled “Real Shit,” which sees the Chicago artist harmonizing about staying honest with his loved ones (“Real shit, real shit, never tell a lie”). The track also sees an accompanying lyric clip for viewers to enjoy. All-in-all, it’s a bittersweet offering for fans of an individual who transitioned way before his time.

Back in July, Juice WRLD’s estate liberated the posthumous album Legends Never Die, which saw 22 cuts and features from Trippie Redd, Halsey, Marshmello, Polo G, and The Kid Laroi. The project was an astounding success, scoring just under 500,000 album equivalent units its first week of release and landing at number one on the Billboard 200, as well as other charts around the world.
