MadeinTYO has shared his new album Never Forgotten. The body of work was preceded by singles like the Toro y Moi-assisted “Money Up” and the more recent “BET Uncut” music vide. On the project’s intro track, TYO wastes no time and comes in straight with his signature flow over a K Swisha beat:

“Make a whole sandwich, get yo’ bread. F**k them cops, f**k them feds. What I look like, what a hater done said? My big class need to serve and spread. You know they hate when they see you win. Uncle locked up, did three times ten. Caged up, they forgot about him. You know how my girl rock about him. Buzz ain’t here, don’t talk about them. Pockets on fat, her waist on slim.”

17-tracks long, the Atlanta rapper called upon a stacked list of collaborators including the likes of J Balvin, Toro y Moi, Young Nudy, Ty Dolla Sign, Cam’ron, Lucki, BJ the Chicago Kid, Wiz Khalifa, 24hrs, Na-Kel Smith, and the late Chynna. Leading up to the album, Tokyo recruited Chance the Rapper and Smino for the “BET Uncut” video, an obvious homage to that BET era directed by TYO’s older brother David “FilthyMcDave” Hightower.

In 2020, MadeInTYO has contributed to a slew of singles, including “Square B**ch” with A$AP Ferg, “Move Ya Hips” with Ferg again and Nicki Minaj, “Tokyo Nights” with Tm88, and “Vintage Like Lee” with Vintage Lee. MadeInTYO’s last studio album was Sincerely, Tokyo which dropped back in 2018. The 14-track project included features from Roy Woods, Tinashe, Blood Orange, Gunna and 24hrs and was led by his single with A$AP Ferg titled “Ned Flanders.”

In a previous interview, MadeInTYO delved into who else he’d love to collab with one day:

“I get excited when some of my fans tell me that I’m underrated and I tell them I love that s***. I love that because there was a time I wasn’t rated at all and now underrated I’m like ‘n***** is rating me it’s lit. Like I’m blessed to even talk about it. All the people that are playing my music are family. I love M.I.A she stands out. Me and Pharrell got in the studio but we haven’t finished that’s another person that was on that list. He’s still somebody that I would like to work with. It’s really like M.I.A and Pharrell and it’s funny because they worked together. The industry is so small but it’s just a matter of time.”
