As teens, many see their moms and dads as overprotective, but once they become parents themselves, they develop a new outlook — like Keke Palmer.

Today (July 24), the veteran Hollywood actress uploaded a Big Boss discussion she participated in with Dominique Da Diva as the host. During the conversation, the MC asked Palmer, “In what ways has your relationship changed with your mom since becoming a mom yourself?”

The Nope star replied, “Oh my gosh! I really understand so much of why my mom was so on my neck.” Palmer then turned toward the audience and noted, “Y’all know how moms are,” before continuing, “It’s like girl, calm down. But now that I have my own child, I’m like, yeah, I’m ready to bust heads and throw bows.”

She continued, “Like, you will do anything for that baby… And so I think, I really learned to have more compassion.” Earlier this year, Palmer welcomed her first child, Leodis Andrellton Jackson, with her boyfriend, Darius Jackson. Last week, the 29-year-old posted side-by-side photos of herself and Leo after she seemingly had enough of fans saying they don’t look alike.

Along with the discussion, Palmer captioned a post on Instagram, elaborating more on understanding her mom’s protectiveness growing up now that she is a parent too. “I wrote Big Boss not knowing that I would soon be a mom myself,” Palmer shared on IG. “But God clearly had a bigger plan for me. Most people who’ve seen the film always tell me that the scenes with me and my mom hit the hardest, and it’s amazing how those mean so much more now! I really understand why she was ready to GO hard for me as a kid in the music industry, because when I tell you I’m ready to post up for my little man!”
