Kevin Gates is definitely bringing some early career vibes with his latest drop. Yesterday (Jan. 11), the Baton Rouge star decided to bless his fans with a new clip for “President,” a hard-hitting number that’s full of the street-oriented, get-to-the-money raps that Gates is well-known for:

“50 bricks of sniff, ain’t broke my wrist, I sprung my shit, cocaine residue be rockin’ when I’m done wit’ it, shooter ridin’ coupe wit’ somethin’ stupid in the truck of it, just got off the phone wit’ Lucci, he say, ‘Gates, you runnin’ shit,’ lot of sirens passin by the shop, but we still hustlin’, searchin’ us for nothin’, book me, fuck it, no discussin’ it, now we right back at it…”

The video comes courtesy of Marcell JB and TeamxIncome and shows Gates riding through the streets in a Rolls Royce, all while bird’s eye view shots of the city he’s currently in are interweaved throughout. Simply put, Gates is feeling like the boss that he is, and he has little problem showing off his success.

“President” follows a run of top tier freestyles that Kevin Gates did over instrumentals for Young Dolph’s “Talking To My Scale,” Nardo Wick’s “Who Want Smoke?,” Pooh Shiesty’s “Back In Blood,” SPOTEMGOTTEM’s “BeatBox,” and Fivio Foreign’s “Trust” — he also liberated equally dope loose cuts like “Dear God” and “Move.” Prior to that, Gates released his latest body of work Only the Generals, Pt. II, the sequel to 2019’s Only the Generals Gon Understand. His last official LP — the 17-track I’m Him, his second — made landfall back in 2019. That Gold-certified album both landed Gates within the top five of the Billboard 200 and his fourth top ten entry overall thanks to 72,000 album equivalent units sold during its first week of release. Presumably, he’s still putting his final touches on the long-awaited Khaza and (maybe) another installment of his Luca Brasi series.
