Last night (Dec. 9), DJ Premier and 2 Chainz closed out the year by gifting fans their new single “Mortgage Free.” The new track is the fourth single from Premier’s Single Series with Payday Records, which was announced shortly after the iconic label’s reformation in 2017.  Previous hit singles included “Our Streets” featuring A$AP Ferg, “Wut U Said” featuring Casanova, and “Headlines” featuring Griselda. On the freshly released “Mortgage Free,” 2 Chainz rides some smooth production courtesy of Premier,

The goal in life is to be mortgage free, control your emotions have integrity/ If you wanna use my likeness I need equity and if you really tryin’ to win you need to bet with me (Yeah)/ The goal in life is to be mortgage free/ Control your emotions have integrity

Premier took a moment to share a few words on how the collab came about. “Since 2 Chainz joined Royce and I on PRhyme 2’s ‘Flirt,’ I returned the love back by sending him a beat while he was in the Bahamas with Statik Selektah earlier this year recording for various projects. I sent him the beat and he sent it back to me the same night” recalls DJ Premier. “Since the end of the year was approaching, I knew that I had one more single left to release on Payday Records. 2 Chainz was down and now we have another banger of Bars and Boom-Bap delivered the way you want it to sound.”

Last year, 2 Chainz dropped off his sixth studio LP So Help Me God!, which contained 15 cuts and features from the likes of Kanye West, YoungBoy Never Broke Again, Lil Wayne, Ty Dolla $ign, Rick Ross, and Lil Uzi Vert. As previously reported by REVOLT, Chainz recently took to social media to announce that his next release — said to be titled Dope Don’t Sell Itself — will be the final trap album of his career.

Be sure to press play on DJ Premier and 2 Chainz’s brand new song “Mortgage Free”
