The past week or so has seen Tierra Whack delivering the three-song EPs Rap? and Pop?, both of which appear to be the first two volumes of a trilogy or ongoing series. In addition, Whack has also unveiled a new visual from Pop? for “Body Of Water,” a J Melodic-produced cut that sees her delivering the lightning-fast, stream-of-consciousness bars that she’s well-known for:
“I’ve never been to jail, tell a nigga that I’m in here like gel, I just want the paper, can I read the mail? Tell them it’s a fee without the male, do tell, do tell, yeah, you dig it like a ditch, if I paid you some attention you would probably be rich, sucks to be you, ol’ gold digging bitch, shit, I’m running this shit like Drake with the Six, let’s go let’s get it, I’m committed, it’s survival of the fittest and I’ll only take a minute, life is short, I compare it to a midget, shovel in the trunk of the ’06 Civic…”
In addition to her ming-bending wordplay, Whack is also known for her unique and over-the-top visuals, and — when it comes to that level of wackiness — “Body Of Water” does not disappoint. The entire clip is based around Whack, a young kid, an adult man, and an elderly couple, all of whom have been enjoying cups of water throughout. Viewers can see trippy moments like the kid’s eyes separating, the man’s hands turning to fins, and the couple morphing into human-dolphin hybrids. Simply put, expect to play this one a few times over.
It’s been three years since Tierra Whack released her critically acclaimed debut LP Whack World, an album comprised of 15 minute-long songs that was accompanied by an equally amazing short film. Hopefully, the subsequent singles and aforementioned EPs mean that an official follow-up isn’t too far away.
In the meantime, press play on “Body Of Water” below.
