Mack Wilds has made his official return to the music world after four years of focusing on his other successful endeavors. The freshly released “Simple Things” shows off his melodic voice that fans know and love. As he rides production courtesy of Anwar Sawyer, Wilds croons his lyrics about battling the ups and downs of relationships while pleading with his partner to focus on the simple things:

Why am I so drawn to all your darkness? Here I go again, blurring the lines/ Your love isn’t based on my trajectory I’m uninterested in leading the blind/ There’s just something different ‘bout your love

See, I could look somewhere else for it all, see, I don’t ask for much, but all I want/ Is simple things, girl, it’s the simple things I need/ Simple things, it’s the simple things I need/ You find it so easy to be heartless, it’s funny ‘cause you wear yours on your sleeve

When discussing coming back to music and the process of making “Simple Things,” Mack Wilds shares that it was important to keep the release personal. “It’s been some time since our last full-on release, and so it made sense to lead with something from my own personal experiences and my heart,” he says via press release. “Like most of our stories, love just happens to be complicated. So this is just that; a complicated love song.”

Aside from music, Mack has been busy all 2021, starring alongside O’Shea Jackson Jr., Quvenzhané Wallis, and more in the Apple TV+ original series SWAGGER, which is inspired by Kevin Durant’s journey in youth basketball as well as executive produced by the NBA megastar. He also made his Broadway debut with a leading role in the much talked about production Thoughts Of A Colored Man alongside Luke James, Dyllón Burnside, and more.
