Last Friday, Summer Walker made her official return with her sophomore LP Still Over It, which comes with 20 soulful tracks and additional appearances from Cardi B, City Girls’ JT, SZA, Ari Lennox, Lil Durk, Pharrell Williams, Omarion, and Ciara. As previously reported by REVOLT, Still Over It is also expected to sell around 200,000 first-week album equivalent units, making it one of the most commercially successful albums of the year.

Today, Summer switches gears from album mode a bit as she joins Amazon Music to continue the roll out of festive content. She shares her take on Marvin Gaye’s holiday song “I Want To Come Home For Christmas,” which features some lyrics about longing for a better night:

I’d give anything to see a little Christmas tree, and to hear, hear the laughter of children playing in the snow/ To kiss my baby, under the mistletoe

But I can’t promise my eyes this sight, unless they stop the fight cause I’m a prisoner of war/ Lying here in my cell, hoping my family is well/ Wish they wouldn’t worry so much about me, just try to get us home/ In time for the Christmas tree/

Earlier this week, BBC 1Xtra unveiled a new performance from Walker as part of their “Live Lounge” in promotion of Still Over It. In addition, Walker also reached back to her 2019 debut Over It to perform the hit single “Playing Games,” which saw an appearance from Bryson Tiller on the album’s version.

Amazon Music announced its biggest season of holiday programming yet earlier this month, with brand-new exclusive Christmas music arriving today from artists across the globe—including Camila Cabello’s cover of “I’ll Be Home for Christmas,” a fresh original song from Dan + Shay called “Pick Out a Christmas Tree,” a reimagined version of Marvin Gaye’s “Purple Snowflakes” performed by Leon Bridges, and plenty more.
